Abstract

Background. During reemigration movement of the old believers of Dobrogea in 1860th, its leaders for the first time put before the Russian government as a condition of his return to Russia recognition belokrinitskaia old believers Church, its hierarchy, and the liberation from prison inmates for religious beliefs of old believers. The study of the movement itself, the circumstances that accompanied it and the motivation of each of the parties contribute to the deepening of understanding of the state-Church relationship that does not lose its relevance.
Materials and methods. This article is based on documents obtained in the archives of Russia and Ukraine. Their comprehensive and objective study allows us to consider the issue of reemigration movement of Nekrasovs in the 1860s.
Results. The demand for freedom of religion, the release of prisoners of conscience – was a new phenomenon for foreign old believers, a new form of struggle for their own right to gain the Fatherland and civil rights of old believers in Russia.
Foreign old believers were able to raise the issue of freedom of religion in Russia precisely because of their stay outside the country, guided not only by their own interests, but also by the interests of their colleagues in Russia. That this issue was raised as a priority, – the merit of the leaders of the old believers-Nekrasovs bishop Arkady and O. S. Goncharov. The paper shows the role of Russian diplomats in the reemigration movement of foreign old believers.
Conclusions. The demand for freedom of religion, the release of prisoners of conscience – was a new phenomenon for foreign old believers, a new form of struggle for their own right to gain the Fatherland and civil rights of old believers in Russia. Despite the interest in the return of the old believers, despite the reforms, the Russian government was not ready to change its political course in the religious sphere.
